Petrobras concludes the acquisition of Esso Chile Petrolera

(Rio de Janeiro, April 30 2009). – PETRÓLEO BRASILEIRO S/A - PETROBRAS, [Bovespa: PETR3/PETR4, NYSE: PBR/PBRA, Latibex: XPBR/XPBRA, BCBA: APBR/APBRA], a Brazilian international energy company informs that its wholly owned subsidiaries Petrobras Participaciones, S.L. (PPSL) and Petrobras Venezuela Investments & Services B.V (PVIS), located in Spain and in the Netherlands, respectively, concluded today the acquisition of ExxonMobil’s distribution and logistics assets in Chile, in the total amount of approximately $400 million.

With the acquisition, Petrobras guarantees a strong position in the Chilean fuel distribution market, with a network of almost 230 service stations, presence in 11 airports, participation in six distribution terminals (four owned and two via joint ventures) and a participation of 22% in the company Sociedad Nacional de Oleoductos and 33,3% in Sociedad de Inversiones de Aviación.
